The first-ever Palestinian film to be nominated for an Oscar, 5 Broken Cameras is a deeply personal, first-hand account of life and non-violent resistance in Bil’in, a West Bank village surrounded by Israeli settlements.
Dr. Herrup spoke about her sabbatical research on Israeli and Palestinian film, which involved traveling to Israel, Bil’in, and Ramallah to work with and interview leading filmmakers, producers, funders, distributors, and activists, including the directors of this film.
