2024 Spring Symposium Art Competition
2024 Spring Symposium Art Competition
The Center for Peace & Conflict Studies in conjunction with The Art Gallery is excited to invite artists from our ACC community to submit artwork for the 10th Annual Spring Symposium entitled, “What’s Peace Got to Do With It: Transforming Conflicts in Your Relationship, Career, and Community.”
This year’s open call asks artists to envision what peace and conflict transformation mean to their relationships, career, and/or local to global community.

How “peace” and “conflict” are defined in the disciplines of Peace & Conflict Studies (PACS):
PEACE
PEACE requires not only stopping violence and harm, but also the building of the right relationships and social structures through a radical respect for human rights and nonviolence as a way of life. The only sustainable peace is embedded in justice.
CONFLICT
CONFLICT is viewed as a natural part of all relationships that presents opportunities for either cycles of hurt and destruction, or an opportunity to build a better structure for the relationship. Conflict transformation requires a positive orientation toward conflict and a willingness to engage in the work it takes to produce constructive change and growth. It brings into focus the horizon toward which we journey – the building of healthy relationships and communities, locally and globally.”
