ACC’s Interdisciplinary Studies Department offers an Associate of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Global Studies (INDS: GS). Students pursuing this degree take courses across disciplines within the college curriculum that are designed to facilitate consideration, analysis, and discussion of issues related to  interdependence of world cultures and societies. These courses include information that stimulates thoughtful consideration of historical and contemporary political, social, and cultural environments.

Students in Global Studies learn how to understand the role of human rights, sustainable development, and other ethical concepts in various contexts at both theoretical and practical levels. Students also discuss the arts as a framework for analyzing human relationships and social justice. The program encourages practicing the arts as a tool for cultural understanding, international engagement, and self-reflection. Through these various lenses, the overall focus of the degree program is to explore complex, interdependent global systems and legacies and their implications for people’s lives and the earth’s sustainability.
