African and African Diaspora Studies
Focuses on the intellectual, historical, political, artistic, religious, scientific, economic, and sociocultural experiences of people of African descent.
Students Say AADS Has
The African and African Diaspora Studies (AADS) program provides an opportunity for students to engage in focused studies across multiple academic disciplinary areas. Within the program, students can enroll in a variety specified general education course sections developed with an added emphasis on the people of Africa and/or the African diaspora. Additionally, the program draws on the theories and methodologies that will provide a foundation for students to continue their studies in a comparable AADS program at a four-year institution.
Immerse Yourself
AADS focus examines the diversity, complexity, and interdependence of the world community. It also provides a broad knowledge base for understanding and analyzing various topics relative to the diverse communities in Africa and the African diaspora.
Political
Students will gain knowledge of the political structures and institutions as well as the various impacts those structures have on communities of people in African and within the African diaspora.
Economic
Students will gain insight into the influences that structure various economic institutions in African and within the African diaspora.
Social & Cultural
Students will explore the social and cultural experiences that shape various communities in African and within the African diaspora.
