I am honored to be a Full-time Sociology Professor at Austin Community College. I started my academic journey at a community college and earned an AA in Sociology at Santa Barbara City College and then a BA in Sociology at University of California Santa Barbara. I earned my Master’s Degree in Sociology and PhD in Sociology with a Designated Emphasis in Feminist Studies at University of California Santa Cruz.

I have been to over 20 countries and conducted ethnographic research in India, Mexico and Ethiopia for my undergrad honors thesis, master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation. Teaching sociology at ACC is literally my dream job and I love supporting students not only in my classes but in their degree plans, transfer plans, research projects, and their lives.

I see sociology as a tool for understanding ourselves and our society, and ultimately for social change. I hope that you take a sociology course during your time at ACC. Please contact me with any questions!
