Erin Bannen  – Adjunct Professor of Humanities

Biography

I received a BA in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012. I received an MLA with an Emphasis in Humanities from St. Edward’s University in 2016.

Teaching Philosophy

My master’s thesis is entitled Mistake Space: How Improvisational Theater Makes Great Teachers. I studied improvisational theater for two years, and I learned how to create a space where students feel both fearless and connected. I find that connection and courage often lead to transformational learning experiences in the humanities classroom. If you want to learn more about my teaching, check out the piece I wrote here.

Areas of Interest

I have expertise in trauma-informed teaching, acting theory, aesthetics, and creative writing.
