J. Wade Allen – Adjunct Professor of Philosophy

 

Biography

J. Wade Allen received his B.A. in Philosophy from University of Texas, San Antonio and his M.A. in Philosophy from University of Houston. After teaching at Houston Community College, Allen has taught at Austin Community College since 2009. In addition to teaching Introduction to Philosophy and Ethics at ACC, Allen has given several presentations at the ACC Arts and Humanities Philosophy Forums, in which he has discussed our obligations to future generations, animals rights, and the issue of guns on campus. Alongside being an educator ACC, Allen is also an active musician in the Austin music scene.

Teaching Philosophy

For both Introduction to Philosophy and Ethics, students can expect a lecture-heavy course that also includes various group and reading exercises throughout the semester. There are three tests, in which each test includes an in-class essay and several short answers, and one major essay.
