In other words, I like to make philosophy fun.

Logistically, students in my courses can expect lectures mixed with both traditional and zany in-class activities. The major assignments in my courses are generally essays and short answer exams.

Areas of Interest:

My research is in feminist philosophy, ethics, and a few distinct fields of applied ethics, particularly philosophy of disability, philosophy of education, and family ethics. I’m especially interested in interpersonal relationship dynamics that are essentially power asymmetric (e.g., professor-student, abuser-victim) and thinking about why some behaviors are constructive and praiseworthy within the context of these power dynamics, even though such behavior is otherwise destructive and problematic. 🙂

Courses Taught:

Introduction to Philosophy (ACC, CCC, Colgate)

Ethics (ACC, CCC, Colgate)

Philosophy of Fun (Cornell)

Environmental Ethics (CCC)

Business Ethics (Cornell)

Bobbie Cohn — Associate Professor of Philosophy My undergraduate work was at the University of Florida (go gators) and my graduate work at Cornell University.
