I am a life-long learner, and often fascinated by something new I’ve learned. I aim to energize my students to explore ideas and test new skills, and to get comfortable with failure as a part of the process of learning. I am always learning about new technologies and approaches, and continuously update my approach to reflect real-world needs and practices.

Areas of Interest

Pop Culture & Pop Music (but not necessarily Pop Art)

Experimental and Performance Art

Literature, and the Craft of Literature

Feminist & Queer Theory

Television and Movies: Especially Experimental, Campy Horror, Sci-Fi Realism, Apocalyptic & Monster stories

Courses Taught at ACC:

HUMA-1301: Prehistory to Renaissance: Great Questions Seminar

HUMA-1301: Prehistory to Renaissance

HUMA-1302: Renaissance to Present

ENGL-1301: Composition I

ENGL-1302: Composition II

ENGL 2307: Beginning Creative Writing (Fiction, Flash)

ENGL 2311: Business & Technical Writing

Katie McClendon Biography Professor McClendon started her college education by attending community college in Washington State.
