Prior to teaching at the college level, Carrie was a high school English teacher, a curriculum writer, and an expert in the fields of special education, gifted education, and differentiation.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe in meeting my students’ needs through varied instructional techniques. I utilize interactive lessons, discussions (in class and online), inquiry driven learning, and multi-media information sharing. I want students to have a good time in a safe learning atmosphere while they challenge their own thinking about how we are all connected and how the study of humanities helps us understand this global connection.

Areas of Interest

Instructional Design
Brain-based Teaching
Music History
Philosophy
Literature
Academic Research

Courses Taught at ACC

HUMA-1301: Prehistory to Renaissance
HUMA-1302: Renaissance to Present

Courses Taught Elsewhere

Strategies for Diversity in Education
Exceptional Populations
Graduate course in Personalized Learning
Composition and Rhetoric 1301
Composition and Rhetoric 1302

Carrie Simpson – Adjunct Professor of Humanities Biography Carrie is putting her unique background to work in her Humanities classes at ACC.
