It includes almost any form of writing you can think of, from memoir and children\u2019s literature to playwriting and screenwriting. Introduction to
\nCreative Writing<\/h3>\n

ENGL 2307<\/h4>\n

This course introduces students to the foundational techniques and principles of creative writing across a variety of genres. Students will explore essential elements of the craft, such as developing vivid imagery, creating authentic voices, structuring narratives or sequences, and refining style and technique. Through varied writing exercises, peer workshops, examinations of craft, classic and contemporary readings, students will expand their creative range and develop original works. Students will also engage with the local literary community and explore opportunities for sharing and submitting their writing. No prior experience in creative writing is required.<\/p>\n

Forms of Literature for Creative Writers<\/h3>\n

ENGL 2341<\/h4>\n

This course explores a selection of literary forms, such as fiction, poetry, drama, screenwriting, and non-fiction. Individual instructors determine the emphasis of the course, and reading selections vary. Through close reading of classic and contemporary literature, critical discussion, craft analysis, and creative writing, students will develop strategies for critical and creative engagement with the selected form(s) of literature.\u00a0Students will actively engage in the local literary community and prepare and submit work for publication. No prior experience in creative writing is required.<\/p>\n","column_3":"

Academic Cooperative in Literary Journal Production<\/h3>\n

A capstone class for Creative Writing majors offered each Fall and Spring semester. The Academic Coop is designed to give participants insight into the process of publishing a literary journal. Our Associates in Creative Writing is designed to give you a valuable foundation in the art of writing. This degree plan includes introductory composition classes as well as a variety of creative writing classes designed to strengthen all levels of writing, from beginning to advanced. This degree includes access to unique creative writing electives such as being a part of a team of editors that collaborate to publish the bi-yearly Rio Review, ACC\u2019s very own Student Literary & Arts Journal.<\/p>\n
