The Center for Peace & Conflict Studies in conjunction with The Art Gallery is excited to invite artists from our ACC community to submit artwork for the 10th Annual Spring Symposium entitled, \u201cWhat\u2019s Peace Got to Do With It: Transforming Conflicts in Your Relationship, Career, and Community.\u201d<\/span><\/h4>\n

PEACE<\/strong> requires not only stopping violence and harm, but also the building of the right relationships and social structures through a radical respect for human rights and nonviolence as a way of life. The only sustainable peace is embedded in justice.<\/span><\/p>\n","column_2":"

CONFLICT<\/strong><\/h2>\n
\n

CONFLICT<\/strong> is viewed as a natural part of all relationships that presents opportunities for either cycles of hurt and destruction, or an opportunity to build a better structure for the relationship. Conflict transformation requires a positive orientation toward conflict and a willingness to engage in the work it takes to produce constructive change and growth. Participating artists will have their pieces evaluated by Natalie Earhart. Finalists in this competition will have the opportunity for their art to be displayed during the Spring Symposium at the Art Lab.<\/span><\/p>\n

Natalie Earhart<\/strong> is an interdisciplinary\u00a0artist , writer and curator based in Austin, Texas.\u00a0Originally from California, she earned her BA in Studio Art from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2013.\u00a0In 2015, she co-founded\u00a0Almost Real Things<\/a>, an arts organization and venue for artists and art enthusiasts to find community, develop professional skills and contribute to the arts ecosystem. She’s worked with partners like The Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Big Medium, Armadillo Christmas Bazaar, Fusebox Festival and the Austin Cultural Arts Division to curate, produce and facilitate creative activations.<\/div>\n

The top three finalists shall receive:<\/span><\/p>\n

Prizes:<\/strong> $50 (3rd), $100 (2nd), and $200 (1st)<\/span><\/p>\n
